CRPF full form is Central Reserve, Police Force. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is also known as the largest of India’s Central Armed Police Forces. It works under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The CRPF is primarily responsible for assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and peace and counter-insurgency. It has been holding the command in anti-Naxal operations over the last 5 years and has achieved milestones worth considering.

A Brief History

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is one of the largest paramilitary forces in the world. It was originally constituted as the Crown Representative Police in 1939 and was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament on December 28, 1949.

The CRPF is tasked with a variety of roles, including the preservation of law and order, the prevention and investigation of crime, and the maintenance of national security. The force has over 300,000 personnel and is divided into a number of operational units.

The Union Government had appointed K Vijay Kumar, IPS as Director-General on 10 January 2018 to replace Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, who retired on 31 December 2017.
