jee full form is the Joint Entrance Examination. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all-India engineering entrance examination. It is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The examination is used as a selection criterion for admission to nearly all engineering colleges in India.

The examination is conducted in two parts: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Through JEE Main, candidates can seek admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). Through JEE Advanced, candidates can seek admission to IITs.

The exam is held twice a year- in April and May and December every year. In 2016, the CBSE announced that JEE Advanced would be held on May 22. The result of the test is declared in June.

The Joint Entrance Examination is a computer-based test, and like most other major examinations across India (e.g., CAT) it also uses the biometric system for attendance and recording responses. Further, CCTV cameras are used to monitor the test-takers in the examination hall.

Structure of JEE

JEE Main 2019 will be conducted in two phases- JEE Main Prelims and JEE Main Mains. The first phase is an online examination, while the second phase is a pen-and-paper examination. The examination will be conducted in English, Hindi, and Urdu.

The JEE Main 2019 Prelims will be conducted from January 6 to 20, 2019. The JEE Main 2019 Mains will be conducted from April 8 to 12, 2019. The result of the examination will be declared in May 2019.

What is the exam pattern for JEE Main?

The exam pattern for JEE Main 2019 has not yet been released. However, the exam typically comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper carries 300 marks.

The question paper for JEE Main will be available in 10 languages- English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. The question paper comprises of questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology (physics+chemistry or physics+mathematics). Candidates will be given a choice between the following- Physics and Chemistry OR Physics and Maths (course code: C024) and Biology and Chemistry OR Biology and Maths (course code: C025).

What are the eligibility criteria for JEE Main?

To appear in JEE Main 2019, candidates must have passed Class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The candidates must have scored at least 75% marks in aggregate in Class 12th or equivalent examination. The candidates must also have scored at least 30% marks in each subject.

For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, the eligibility criteria is relaxed to 65% marks in aggregate in Class 12th or equivalent examination. The candidates must also have scored at least 30% marks in each subject.

What is the registration process for JEE Main?

The registration process for JEE Main 2019 will start in November 2018. The candidates will be able to fill the application form online. The application form will be released on the official website of JEE Main. The registration fee for JEE Main 2019 is Rs 1800. Payment of the fees can be done online only.
