National Disaster Response Force

NDRF full form is National Disaster Response Force. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is a specialized force set up by the Indian government to provide rapid response in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. It is under section 44 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and consists of 12 battalions, each with 1149 personnel.

The Chairman of the NDMA is the Indian Prime Minister, and an IPS officer on a deputation basis is the Director-General of NDRF.

Each battalion is eligible to provide rescue teams, like engineers, technicians, electricians, dog squads, and medical / paramedics. The NDRF has responded to many tragic circumstances and is trained and prepared for such events.

Structure of NDRF
